Repair, Reduce, Renew

Utilizing our 25 years of combined experience in green construction and our extensive knowledge of building science, the JOEGREEN team has developed the 3 Phases of Going Green:REPAIRREDUCERENEW. This process is meant to help the average homeowner prioritize their efforts to maximize energy efficiency, increase home comfort, and utilize renewable energy solutions. This recommended path is the most effective way to reach your goals of greening your home.

PHASE 1: REPAIR

The REPAIR phase begins with a Building Envelope Assessment using diagnostic tools such as the Infrared camera [pic] and the blower door [pic], we thoroughly assess every aspect of your home’s building shell.  We evaluate the effectiveness of your home’s insulation, pin-point air leaks and air infiltration, check for causes of indoor air pollution such as mold or mildew,  and evaluate the efficiency of your windows and your heating and air conditioning system. Repairing issues like air leaks or a lack of insulation ensures no significant energy loss and is one of the most effective ways to reduce your bills with  minimal investment.

PHASE 2: REDUCE

The REDUCE phase starts with an Electricity and Water usage assessment. We analyze the efficiency of your appliances, lighting, and water systems and prescribe solutions to reduce your power and water usage. We guide you through energy-friendly upgrades to your appliances, lighting, HVAC, and water systems. We also install and assist you in utilizing affordable and convenient energy-monitoring solutions.

PHASE 3: RENEW

In the RENEW phase, we qualify your home for renewable energy systems such as geothermal, solar, and wind based on site characteristics, budget, and energy requirements. After analyzing your capacity for renewable energy systems, we help you access rebates and tax credits that will maximize the benefits of producing your own energy while minimizing the payback period on your investment.

JOEGREEN is here to help you with each phase.  It’s not  mandatory to engage in each phase sequentially, however, based on our experience, we recommend doing so to ensure maximum energy efficiency.
